Permanent in-situ Installation

The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, in partnership with Art Production Fund, is excited to announce that renowned French artist and photographer, Georges Rousse, has been creating his first-ever permanent public art installation at the luxury resort. Set to open on March 14, the one-of-a-kind installation is incorporated into the architecture of The Cosmopolitan’s new Starbucks location, further bolstering the property’s commitment to integrate art and culture into every aspect of The Cosmopolitan experience.

Widely regarded as a pioneer in single-perspective art, Georges Rousse is known for working at the intersections of painting, architecture and photography, creating colorfully elaborate and ephemeral installations in abandoned or soon-to-be demolished buildings. From most vantage points, the installation looks fragmented and chaotic, but when photographed from a single perfect angle, perspective shifts and the full illusion of the unified work is revealed. This unique approach results in unforgettable exhibitions that compel viewers to reanalyze their own perceptions of space and reality.

In the past, Rousse’s works have only been actualized through large-scale photographs taken from that single perfect angle. Now, 35 years after his first art exhibition in 1981, Rousse will be making his Las Vegas debut by creating a work unlike anything he’s done before – a permanent installation in a bright location that will allow viewers to experience the tactile joy of these illusions firsthand for years to come.
